A7SS 1956 Hub Types

Experts might confirm if my 1956 A7SS used Ariel Full width hubs with the QD version on the rear? What size? The parts list seems to show the pre unit universal  8" or 7 incher front and rear full width ones, before they switched to Tribsa common 8 inchers.

1956-7 should have Ariel hubs.

I think this was closest existing topic for my question

 Looking at my '57 Ariel front hub, I'm trying to determine if what I'm seeing on the near (left?) side is the bearing locking ring or a stamped metal cover over the ring. There appears to be three small screws, but I haven't tried hard to turn them, nor have I tried hard to turn the ring, if that's what it is. Don't want to apply force untill I know what I'm dealing with. If it's a stamped cover, it's not in any exploded view I'VE ssen.

Well, never mind. while it does not show up in the BSA exploded view, it does show up in the Arieal exploded view as the bearing locking ring cover (but the screws don't show up). Thanks to Draganfly for providing the graphic.

I don’t remember the cover, but I do remember my error of loctiting the threaded bearing retaining ring, its a large diameter thread and these sorts of diameter thread should (in my opinion) NOT be loctited as it makes them almost impossible to undo  *eek*

Good advice, Kiwi. BTW, it turns out that the things that look like screws are little posts sticking up from the solid brass locking ring and the "slots" are swage marks.

RichardL, the locking ring would have had a metal plate over the brass and those posts would have been swaged over to hold the metal plate in place, the metal plate also had holes aligning with the brass lock ring.
I imagine that when these lock rings were removed that it would be quite easy to shear the brass posts and then just discard the metal plate.
My 57 has a NOS one, I can’t remember where I got it though
