E3L dynamo I'm confused

I have a 1960 A10 which i converted to 12v negative ground using a DVR2 regulator, flashed the dynamo for negative ground installed new battery.I have less than 1 volt output from the new regulator. I did a dynamo test connecting d&f terminals together, on idle i get around 7 volts on my volt meter  if i rev the engine up to 14 volts. I disconnected the new regulator and reinstalled the old lucas 6 volt regulator and had a 7.5 volts output from the regulator. If i'm getting 14 volts from the dynamo that tells me its working or am i missing something. Has anyone had any experience with the DVR2 regulator it  appears i have all the wires connected per the instructions. very frustrating.

If it is connected properly and substituting another regulator gives output then it seems that the DVR is buggered.

 i think i am just going to call dynamo regulators hopefully resolve this problem. Thanks for your help

Tonup, I have not had any experience with the DVR2 regulator, but I have installed 2-12v, pos earth, solid state regulators to my '61 SR. 1 overheated after about 3 years and the the other, a Boyer unit, has lasted about 10 years. However whilst the 1st one (forgot the name) gave me about 13 volts when a meter was connected to it, the Boyer gave me only about 3 volts. when I called my supplier, he told me to connect it to the battery and then measure the voltage, and sure enough I got 13 volts. So be sure that you aren't getting the required voltage. By the the way, I think you generator should be putting out a bit more too, mine puts out about 22 volts, with the original 6 volt armature.

Clive, it depends on how fast you rev the engine as to what output you get.
14V at around 2000 or so revs is OK.
