Oil in the k2f magnet

Hi !

I got problem with oil in the magnet. The seal is not old but i fond the chaft worn. I have grind the chaft some and would like to grind it more but i am afraid that if i take too much the seal becomes too big.
Is there a seal that i can use with smaller inner diameter ?

Go to a bearing shop and see if there is a "Speedy Sleeve" in a size suitable for your shaft.
Then simply ( it is reasonably easy ) slip the sleeve over the shaft , restoring a nice smooth surface for the seal to run on

I 've been thinking the same thing , it 's just a little crowded space . I do not want to destroy the cone for the auto -advance unit.

It is a problem marqs.
It would I think be possible to machine the top part of the taper to 'parallel' and then press/shrink on a collar or sleeve which could then be turned to make a perfect continuation of the original taper. A rather fiddly job, but I'd say it was probably do-able without significantly reducing the strength of the shaft or its fit into the brass end cheek - or wrecking the fit of the ATD.

I have decided to make an effort , I'm working with a lathe and have access to all the equipment that might be needed.

This sounds like more trouble than it is worth. Second hand armatures regularly sell on Ebay for about £25. Furthermore the windings look original. If the capacitor is original as well I wouldn't rely on this magneto to get me very far.

Might have been a good idea to have removed the bearings first. At least the cage and balls.

The repair still works after about 3000 kilometers, no oil in the magnet. *smile*
