Chrome chain guard for super rocket
« on: 13.05. 2017 16:20 »
Hi all, I'm after a chrome chain guard for my 62 super rocket. Has anyone fitted a gold star type and if so was it a straight forward job?
Thanks in advance

A Goldie type won't fit your bike.

Bulphan, Trevinoz is correct, a goldie type won't fit, if you have the "cross-over" cable rear brake, swing arm.
check out the differences in the two types.

Bulphan
I tried this recently - by accident as I ordered the wrong gaurd. Couldn't make it fit and ended up marking the chrome as a consequence of trying.
I tried to buff out the marks and managed to polish in some worse marks than the scratches - now have a ?120 chainguard sitting on the self with nasty buffed chrome - life lesson and all that.
I did try for a wee bit to find a correct chrome one but soon gave up and bought a black painted one which actually looks quite good.  I did find bare ones for chroming yourself (Indian?) but didn't fancy that.
Good luck raymond

Thanks Sam, I did the same thing. I bought it off burton bikes as it said gold star or RGS. I tried modifying it but it doesn't fit right. I wonder if there's a market for damaged chain guards out there?

Hi All,
I think it was BBB that I bought a chainguard from (a long time ago ?)
Anyway the included a bare guard for plating in the next batch they were getting done
at a very good price back then!!! *smile*
Anyway it needed a little fettling of one of the mounting holes where there was a captive nut *sad2*
I removed the nut and filed the hole so a bolt would fit and used a SS penny washer to cover the fu*kup
