Front spindles
« on: 11.08. 2017 21:52 »
I am fitting a A65 front wheel TLS to my A7.
Are the front wheel spindles from A7/A10 and A65/A75 the same dimensions ?
I have to change the bearings in my TLS wheel but I don't want to do this if I have to knock them out again to fit a A7/A10 spindle.

Or to put it another way.
Will a A65 A75 TLS Front brake and full width flanged hub fit int A7/A10 forks ?
I know about the locating lug extension.

Same bearings.

Hub and brake will fit  and A10 spindle will fit.

Photo, taken about 25 years ago, shows an A10 of mine with flanged hub, TLS, A10 forks and spindle. You can just about make out the built up bit on the brake plate to give engagement.

Thank you for that Julian, that's what I wanted to know.
I will go ahead and buy an A7/A10 spindle and change the bearings.
I should get my bike back sometime next week.

There are 2 different A65 spindles - one for 1968 and the other for 1969/70. I dont think the later is the right length for the A10 setup, it is a bit longer, the forks are a bit different.

This is the one that I have, it's 7½" long.

I think the 7 1/2 inch spindle goes with the 1969 on shuttle valve forks.

You might need to offer it up to your forks to see if the grooves coincide with the bolt holes in your fork bottoms.

Will do when I get the bike back.
I have ordered a A7/A10 spindle just in case this one don't fit.
