Intro and info
« on: 28.08. 2017 14:40 »
Hi to all,

Me names Paul and currently have a 1961 A7. Been checking out the forum for some time but this'll be me first post, so please be gentle.
As a first shot, I could be upsetting the purists out there. However, looking to alter me A7 slightly with a humped seat and sportier mudguards. Having trouble finding original look guards that I could trim, never mind an alternative set to fit. I guess the seat is just a re-trim with extra padding. So, anyone any ideas? The idea is not to be too permanent as she's original everywhere else so don't want to trash the original guards.
Thank you.

Should be some generic stainless guards out there that will do the job. With our A10 I did the performance bit - head, carb, cam but stuck with the original valenced guards. Why? It rains up here in the soggy North and I quite like the wolf in sheep's clothing aspect. A nice old Gold Flash that can shift.

Thanks to those responding. I guess the only question is to Beezermacc. Where did you get ya mudguards? I'd imagine the A7/A10 are a similar fit. I like the idea of a tune up but as I say, the bike's original so I'm planningto leave it that way. If I can persuade (bribe) the Long Haired General I aim to get another bike with a bit more poke and tuneability. Dunno if thats a word but it sounds good! Cheers.

The mudguards cam from 'Autocycle' in Dudley. I bought them for a RGS copy I built about 15 years ago. When the mudguards started to get tatty I switched them onto the bike in the picture. I've got some new one for the RGS copy but the whole bike needs a tidy up and I haven't got round to it yet.

My only suggestion is whatever you take off - Keep!
and while fitting custom bits is fine; try and avoid chopping up or cutting off original bits from an original bike.

But hey its your bike, enjoy it your way.
