Stand Springs Help.

My newly painted frame is ready to come together with the newly painted side and centre stand. I have two brand new springs as well. Not looking forward to fitting these, there must be a wealth of experience out there and any tips would be greatly appreciated. The engine is not in so I can lay it down on a nice off cut of carpet. Help please.

Can't help with the centre stand (I always struggle when fitting for the first time ,afterward, always use the old washer trick). Yesterday fitted the side stand spring by fitting spring with arm disconnected and using a ratchet strap round the foot and on the rear wheel spindles to stretch the spring while I maneuvered the arm to get the bolt in.

Try fitting the spring before you fit the centre stand to the frame ( you have a bit mote wriggle room)

The way that I fitted my centre stand spring was quite easy.
I have a load of lolliepop sticks off ebay.
I simply bent the spring so that I could put a stick between each coil then did the same on the other side of the spring.
This lengthens the spring enough to pop it on.
Also do the same when ever I have to remove the spring.
Look at spring in photo, if you hold the coils apart with lolliepop sticks, when you put the stand up the spring stays the same length allowing you to remove it.

I already have the lolly sticks as I use them for polishing.

Spring pullers work, sometimes but they still require a reasonable amount of strength.
Working on ride on mowers I have dozens of them.
What also works well is a ring of thin wire wrapped around the hook end of a ratchet.
Stretch the spring, push the wire loop over the anchor point then cut the wire.
I do another similar thing with a turnbuckle in place of the ratchet.

Did both springs today. Centre stand several pennies, put spring on first with no bolts, then lined up opposite bolt and connected, then levered the spring side in place, quite easy. Don't put the coins the wrong side of the spring they will get in your way. Side stand four pennies, spring on first and levered the S/S on with no paint loss, job done. thanks for replies.
