The new project.
« on: 01.10. 2017 11:03 »
This is the new project, a plunger A7 and Watsonian sidecar. This will be near enough the same outfit my Dad had in the mid fifties and i travelled many miles in the sidecar. My Dad is now 83 and can,t wait to have a go.

Sidecar looks to need some tidying up, but the bike looks great.

The sidecar chassis and wheel have been blasted and painted and i plan to fit it to the bike this week. The body will then go on as she is for a few weeks and then be restored over the winter. The sidecar is nowhere near as bad as it looks. I am really looking forward to riding an outfit again. Last time i sold the sidecar because i missed riding solo but now i am lucky enough to have both.

 Nice looking bike. *smile*

If you have time, could you add some more pictures of the sidecar including interior?

Over here you never see watsonian sidecars, hardly ever a sidecar at all really. I just wonder if the inside was all plush, or if it was more utilitarian?

Plush. Hah!

You know those old time big wheel baby prams...that's the sort of comfort in a UK sidecar; pretty basic and smelling of damp.

Brilliant to see you want to keep them both together, maybe you'll be able to take your dad out in it. If not it'll keep bringing back fond memories.
Just make sure you set up the toe in and lean out so it steers nicely.

A good rider periodically checks all nuts and bolts with a spanner to see that they are tight - Instruction Manual for BSA B series, p46, para 2.

My Dad intends to ride it not just be a passenger. The interior is certainly not plush, more utilitarian but is original and in good condition. Here are a few more photos.
