Can any one tell me what that black rubbery stuff is that is used to waterproof where the wires enter the indicator mounting tube ?
I need to get some.

I haven't found any DumDum in a can online. It is available on a roll though.

I seem to remember Gun gum for exhausts.

Dum Dum is used to seal old Land Rover windscreens and can be quite challenging to remove after 60+ years..

I think you will find Gun Gum was the original product whic was applied with a calking gum , also used to cover welds prior to painting in place of grinding them to dress them.
Dum Dum I think was a similar knock off product.

Gun gum, sold here for exhausts sets hard. I could see it being used for the purposes you mention. DumDum is/was a gloopy paste that when sets is like tough rubber.
