Not BSA Windscreen Chip

My son chipped the windscreen on his new car, don't want to go through insurance. The website does not give prices. Has anyone got any recent repairs, prices please.

It says £25 at Halfords also I did see some diy  kit for repairing windscreen on Ebay other day and that was reasonable too cant remember how much exactly but was similar stuff a liquid that injects in and sets bonding the glass back together and stops water getting in.

I see a kiosk beside our local roundabout offering this service free. I presume your insurance pays for it.

It's his first insurance, we all know what they are like. Halfords at £25 all day long. Churchill will want their pound of flesh in the long run. Cheers lads.

The repair is bound to be less than your insurance deductable. I would use a professional auto-glass shop with the vacuum apparatus to assure a good job. A bad job assures (in my opinion) an upcoming windscreen replacement.

I hear what you are saying on insurance. But on my policy they did small chips fixes for free – no questions asked. Presumably to try and ensure the damage didn’t spread leading to a screen replacement.

 I chipped two last year, insurance fixed them for free.

 I dont think its even that expensive to call an auto glass place and have them do it. I have seen this done at a local Denny's (restaurant) while someone had a leisurely lunch.

 Where I live its constant road construction, and chipped paint and windshields are a common occurrence.
