BSA Customs and choppers thread.
« on: 01.12. 2017 08:43 »
At the risk of a lynching or beaten about the knees with a length of knotty pine, Thought there might be a good repository for pictures and details about non original bikes, and dare i say it,, less than PC customs.

I have a sizable collection of old motorcycle magazines.  many stock type restoration type magazines but I have some UK and US chopper and custom magazines. Going thru and downsizing over time, and came across recently some old articles on period customs and quite a few BSA Preunits in there. Might scan and add some of these soon.  Some might say a TRIBSA might be just as offensive.. (I have one in basket case form I might post some pictures of as well,, One of those "One of these days projects".

But here is a start.  BSA TRIPLE,, race bike

hey musky, wow! even the mag relates to cams [356] enjoyed reading that and the bit bordering on diesel compression I thought barrel base!!!the guy whos done the cylinder head work for my norbsa project [nothing started yet apart from collection of bits]lenny Patterson of the cylinder head shop told me not to go above 8and half to 1 with the standard kit ime using but to run a 34mm mikuni and to run with exhaust pipes 35 inch long with short megas with an open end 3 and half inch. time will tell but theres a heck of a lot of work to do before I even think about that. one possible problem being the frame missing its last number where its been hit with a hammer. *idea*o yes I could easily put the head on betsy beezer for a trial while trying to get the other sorted. anyway your racer is ace love it ,glad you stuck that up.

G'day berger.
"to run with exhaust pipes 35 inch long with short megas with an open end 3 and half inch." sounds like a recipe for megaphonitis.
She lifted a few sets of barrels before I through bolted the head to the cases and used a jack bolt between the rockerbox and frame tube  *eek*.

Great article and pics. I knew you'd done a lot of work on that bike, but having the whole story in one place is nice.

Musky, also nice to see pics of members with their pride and joys, when most times they are only known as names on the forum.

My Golden Flash, on the outside anyway, is bog standard and also original (i.e. not restored) so can't post it here.

No front brake? Sacrificing safety for style really doesn't appeal.
