My old Austin Seven used an early universal joint on the propshaft, known as a Cardan Block. I hope this bloke invented it!

Isn't there something similar at the gearbox end of the shaft on a Sunbeam S8/S7D ?

In Dutch and French language a universal joint propshaft is still called a "cardan"
