New Heat Gun

Just bought this at Argos today 2000W Heat Gun with attachments and paint scrapper £14.99. Cheap as chips.

Incredibly useful device. Painting bits in low temperatures? Warm them up with a heat gun first. Frozen spanners? Same applies. Inflexible plastic? And so on.

Yes a very useful tool in the workshop. Heating alloy cases to extract/replace bushes/bearings to reheating that cuppa that's gone cold.

be careful I have one and they can get very very hot!

Now apologies but I'm having trouble uploading pics, just want to test one and see if it's subject specific, this is my heatgun
So that worked, but can't get pics of a flat oil tank up mmmmm

I used to use one to dry my hair, until it all suddenly went crispy and fell out. Very strange.

Add a large cardboard box and you've got a low bake oven - works well but don't get the gun nozzle too near the cardboard!

edit - Actually, at 2 kW you've potentially got quite a high bake oven too.

Richard - Thanks for that but I promise I didn't steal the idea.  A couple of years ago I was desperate to make some restoration progress in the depths of winter.

I've also used a small fan heater instead of the heat gun.  Works a treat too.

Changing gearbox casing bearings has also benefitted from similar treatment.

Please know that I did not make the assumption that you stole the idea. Just went looking to see if anyone with a similar idea  had posted it to YouTube.  I am a firm believer in spontaneous and coincidental original discovery.

 You just have to be mindful of tools like this, they work the same but are not the same as their expensive cousins.

 They save money by either not using, or going the very cheapest route possible on things like switches, cord grips, thermo-overload protection, plain brass bushings instead of bearings in the fan, no glass fiber in the casing, etc. etc. All these little things are why they can get you a tool so inexpensive.

 As long as they are not DOA, you keep an eye on it, you get a good tool for not a lot of money.
