Homecoming (and other travels)
« on: 03.12. 2018 03:33 »
Well the A10 went back home during the annual Kalgoorlie Toy Run.
300 miles in two days; the riders include fellow members of the WA Vintage Motorcycle Club.

Great pics Richard.

I had to laugh at the guy on the Mach111 carrying a extra few litres of fuel, none of those 70's strokers went far on a tank of fuel. A lot of fun to ride though and fuel was cheap then.

Looks great - nice pics. And yes the fuel can on the Kawa made me laugh too. I'm lucky if I get 20 mp(british)g out of mine.

Hi Peter,
You are welcome to join us next year; others are coming!
Andrew has another Mach III; he will bring it next year.

We planned our route around his need for stops, and I provided the 5 litre container; it made the difference. It also saved my bacon, as i ran out 10 km from home!

When we assembled the bikes in front of the Ora Banda pub, The “Worlds Roughest Barmaid” who took the pics, barked at Colin (Gold Star rider) “Take your fuckin’ helmet off mate; you can’t be that fuckin’ ugly!”

See the pic below, and his response!

I am going to the pub *beer* same here guys , love the petrol container *smile* sometimes my betsy could do with one the way I ride her, many times I've come to a halt with the little honda tank on her { me thinking I will get to the next fuel stop when riding a long way-most times getting away with it by tipping the bike over and blowing in the tank *bash* *pull hair out* *help*} , but what is the skate board for on the other kwaker?  *conf2*

That'll be so someone can ask ' but what is the skate board for on the other kwaker?  *conf2*

To be honest, I didn't notice the fuel can but when mentioned it reminded me of when I did a trip from Bris>-<Syddo in the '70's when there was pending fuel strikes/shortages....took a one gallon oil can of fuel for emergencies, and like Orabanda, didn't need it for 1000 miles until relatively close to home (outside Holland Park courthouse/copshop to be exact)
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

Good to see them all battling on through the sunny weather. Gosh, imagine what biking could be like if you didn't expect it to rain as soon as you pick up a helmet. I know fierce heat is probably worse but that's no problem for a whinging pomme.

I drove in the NT from Darwin down to Alice and the rock a few months ago. I was in a little Toyota hatch - boy was it hot when you stepped out and away from the air con. I mean hot. Soon got a real thirst for those ice cold and thin beers out there.
