The cases for a 1949 ZA7 would be for the earlier long stroke motor which is different to the 1950 A10 and later short stroke A7 so you would have to change a lot more that just swap the crank cases over.

To be clear, do you need Longstroke Cases to fit Longstoke Internals, or do you have early A7 Shortstroke Internals but only a set of  A10 stamped cases?

Harry, I'm no expert but unless you know the bikes history, it may be possible that the frame left the factory as an early '50 model A10...but depends what you want I guess.... I'm sure others more knowledgeable will clear it up  *dunno*

Edit- is it a rigid or Plunger ?

Swarfo rounded me up
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

Hell the long stroke disign was changed half way through 1950. My 49 has 1950 cases, but i also have the original cases.  Let me have a look to see if I have and extras.  Jeff

Klaus..   That eBay listing is interesting in that the vendor is making the classic mistake of confusing rarity with desirability.  Longstrokes are Rare, certainly. Desirable? Not really, as the design is flawed, so only if you are desperate, or foolish enough to consider that represents a good buy.  I don't think there will be a rush. In a similar  manner,  how anyone can be prepared to spend £100 on a plunger stand beats me. Or is it me, Grade A Skinflint, who has it wrong?  Sliggo's recent post on values and trends made interesting reading. But then I look on old bikes as simply a hobby.
