My 59 A7SS Show Rebuild
« on: 01.10. 2019 14:15 »
My 59 BSA rebuild, from an incomplete matching frame/engine, no wheels, done over 4 years, finished 2nd overall in the FIM Africa International Councours 2019 in Nairobi with just one point lost out of a theoretical  140 points.  Slight modifications to make it look a bit sportier were done, otherwise bog standard. Lovely to ride, smooth as a watch, many thanks to tons of help here from many members. Not a single oil leak, it can be done. That's a breather drip you see! Next year hopefully it will take no 1.

Yup, looks great. I love that green.

I'm not sure about the huge gap between the wheel and the rear guard

It coz used Goldie hardware...actually it's fine when off main stand and a shot from high up does not help!

Green is from Pearls and Pigments (Ebay) Apple Green 65%, Forest Green 35% pure dye powders, mixed in Sikken Autoclear and then applied 6 coats as a candy finish, over Lada Silver basecoat, also Sikkens. Then finally 2 coats clear topcosa, all done at home

Thanks Roy but at the FIM Africa shows, they allow modifications and of course I would never be able to get the original mudguards. I changed to Goldie Style when the original ones I had, in very good nick, were stolen out of my garage and sold for scrap by an arrant employee. And I love the more sporty look, which I think the A7SS deserved anyway!

Is he/she out of hospital yet?

Stunning! I like the "over-restored" look. I agree with the sportier look, but myself I try to stay true on my BSA's. The Harleys are another story...………... *eek*

 Blasphemy *ex* *smile*

People think its expensive to find NOS BSA parts, try paying for NOS HD parts, or even good used.

It would make a European BSA owners' sphincter weld itself shut *ex*

Well coater, I live in Africa, and there is zero source of NOS BSA parts whatsoever.
