Hi All, I have taken off the left hand thread locknut on the worm drive, Silly question but which way do you unscrew it to remove the pump? and should it be REALY tight?

G'dat tone, Left hand as well. Should be firm but not overly tight. May have had locktite applied.
Cheers

If was locked with some locktite, use an hand blowtorch or a lighter for a few seconds at the screw and should resolve.

A10gf, Where is the small washer supposed to go, when I finally got the pump off there was nothing behind the worm drive, also there was no washer on the nose under the pump.

between pump and crankcase, on stud close to drive spindle.
As Far As I Can Remember, it's there to keep oilpump housing from bending when tightening. Try to get hold of the 67-645 crankshaft gear washer as well, to line it all up properly.
+ (again AFAICR) by removing studs first (without damaging threads!) the pump can be removed with crankshaft drive gear still on.

The order of components from the crankshaft out are - pinion, washer, worm drive, tab washer, lock nut.
As stated, there should be a fibre washer under the "nose" of the pump body to compensate for the gasket thickness under the main body.

Thanks guys, Trev, I have a new tab washer for under the locknut, its got a little tab at right angles which goes in the groove, does the tab go under the locknut ie; facing out?

The tab faces inwards.
