Lighting switch wiring question
« on: 07.08. 2020 00:39 »
Greetings,
I'm trying to get my A10 ('58 SR, more or less) wired up and I can't understand a couple of things on the lighting switch.  Power comes in to terminal 3 but the tail light and speedometer light are connected via terminal 5.  How does the electricity reach #5?  My switch shows no continuity between terminals except for the two connected by the moving roller.  In the off position the roller touches terminals 4 and 5.  In the middle position 3 and 4, and in the on position 2 and 3.  Someone show me the simple solution here, I'm stuck and have wasted enough time and have other areas that need time wasting!  Thanks for any help and thanks to a10gf for the wiring diagram!

OK I figured out what was going on here, there is supposed to be conductive wiper connecting terminal 5 to the rotating center portion of the switch, which when the switch is moved to contact terminal 3 in park or normal light positions conducts current to terminal 5.  On to the next issue...

I have just bought a new switch from eBay.  It is meant to be a Lucas type 41SA switch.  I have checked it out and is has the switching as per the picture.

G'day Fellas.
Much easier for us if you save pics as jpeg to post. Saves downloading then opening the download folder to see it.
Just a suggestion.
Cheers

The table is a bit odd for switch notation but I think it indicates- Left position has continuity from terminals 4 to 5 and from Common to 7. Middle position has continuity from 3 to 4 and 3 to 5. An ohmmeter will confirm if my guess is good or bad.
