Engine Cases

Just thought I would share some pix of my progress. Engine cases have now been Aqua Blasted and I think turned out pretty good.

 Miker    As cases go, those are some of the best I've seen.  They look to have had little use, and none of the usual problems are evident. More common are broken and split chaincase cover threads, cracks and bruises and evidence of the clutch chainwheel wobbling to allow the chain to contact the case. Slack chain also machines away parts of the case.

 So looks a good set and bodes well for the rest of the engine parts, you've struck lucky.

I got mine really clean on my rebuild, now they look like your first pic again thanks to all the oil leaks I've got.

They look great but make sure you clean the oilways out properly because even with aqua blasting they still use medium and to does a lot of damage. I only know this as last week I helped strip my mates Rocket 3 that was knocking after doing 50 miles from a rebuild and where he had not cleaned it properly (he thought aqua cleaning was just water) the big ends and mains were totally shot.

They look great but make sure you clean the oilways out properly

The oilway from the PRV to the cam trough is difficult to clean out 100% without removing the blanking plug(s)
As the main  bush was left in place, media will also be in the oilway around the bush, this could cause scoring of the alloy when removing the old bush
