Hello Everyone,

I'm based in the UK and restoring a A10 from scratch, but have no prior knowledge of what I need, or anything to go of other than looking a pictures on the net of completed bikes. Could anyone recommend the correct battery I need to buy and does it need to be in a case? Its a standard 6v system! I also have a old regulator and read that its a good idea to fit a solid state unit in the casing, which I plan to do ( I think). I've seen some on classic bike spares website but also read that the DVR-2 is the one to go for. Would you recommend getting the DVR-2 or are the ones on classic bike shop OK. If not where can you buy a DVR-2 from in the UK.

Current dilemma is fitting the new wiring loom to the bike, not exactly sure where the loom needs to run. I've worked out the cabling cores, but just waiting for bullet connectors and a couple of inline fuses to arrive before round 2 :)

DVR2 every time. Hide it in the old reg case and job done. Accept no substitute....

The DVR2 is probably more expensive than alternatives but it is the canines testicles. I bought a cheapy before I knew about the DVR2. It didn't last very long.

Hello Neil,

Yes I'm going to get one as it doesn't make sense putting a cheap one on now from everyone's wise words. I've got two tatty MCR2 (check me out now knowing what they are) in the box of bits and I can see there's no point fitting either of them, so I will be ordering one shortly.

Ditto on the DVR2.....good bit of kit.

As for battery I run 2 Cyclon 6V batteries in parallel in a dummy box.

I'd not thought of running two batteries in parallel but makes total sense! As daft as it sounds I didn't know if the battery went in a box or not, as it was hidden away on any pictures I searched.

For now I'm going to go for the single battery on cost alone so thanks Scotty and Neil, I will get one the same with the box. Another mystery solved!

I fitted my DVR2 in the tool box with double sided tape.

Hi Roy, That's a good idea! I'm ordering one so will have a good think where to put it, once its in my hand and I'm running in the loom properly.

This is how I did the DVR2 connections from the back of the tool box.

Hi Roy, That's a neat job!

The laugh is I didn't realise the original regulator went in the tool box until I was back over in the garage today working out the MCR2 fixing pitch of the bolt hole to see where it went. No wonder I couldn't see it on any photos I was studying. One thing is that I'm learning fast! I'm all sorted now as ordered a battery from Paul Goff and the DVR-22 on order, along wit home Lucas bullet connectors.

The swinging arm A series never had an MCR2 fitted.
