That hole didn't exist until about 1957 in the EA7 series.

My guess: accepts attachment from overhead conveyor on paint line at the factory.

That hole was inserted at the same time as the bracket in the left hand frame loop.
Definitely sidecar mount.

HI All,
I never saw a sidecar bracket attached there!!!!

As far as I know the hole is for holding the old type of dismantleable type sparkplugs
you then used the plug spanner to unscrew the plug body!!
On prewar BSA's and other makes its common to find a hole (hex or otherwise) for this purpose
Or am I talking a load of cobblers???????
Cheers

That's interesting. So, I guess the pipe runs out under the knee and stays out of the way?

Just had a look in my bottom shed but no bracket, It runs in my memory that I may have given it to a fellow A10 owner along with some other stuff, not sure my memory is not what it used to be.

Anyway if memory seves the lower part is rectanguler with a horizontal hole through it at right angles to the bike probably around inch or maybe more, the upper part is threaded and goes up through the hole and fastened with washer and nut.

I'm sure someone in here will have a sidecar attatched and supply picture??
