Well, it's been a couple of weeks since I changed my Avatar picture to show this former landmark building. I was hoping for some spontaneous recogniton of this edifice, but, alas.  Can anyone guess what it is?

Ah, yes. The good ol' Trumpeter Inn. I thought you'd never notice. You've now given away that you've seen it in daylight. *smile* I'd spent many a night there enjoying a warm beer. ;) *whistle* (Sorry about the loss of your friend.) Google: "chesterfield U.K. pub demolished". After that, Google Earth Street View. Hasn't been so long since the dozer, so the view still shows the Trumpeter upright.

Berger,

I understand and apologize if I deserve a "cheeky bastard" title.

Richard you mean you drank there? I didn't use it until the 90's and very rare because I moved to a house in 1994 on the door step of the nags head , which was also knocked down and is now a mobility shop, the nags shut the furness shut  the angel  shut and the Walton hotel shut all within a square mile   only the whitecoats left and myself and the landlord don't get on, now it will have to be town drinking and no local for me *pull hair out*

Kidding, about having been there. Warm beer is one American image of Bitish pubs. Probably incorrect.

Spot on GB - cellar temperature for proper ale, 3-4 C. If the only choice is lager then as cold as possible to help mask the taste  *beer*.

I’d go for real ale at 10degC, but no matter how hard I try to educate the locals they just don’t get that here  *sad*

I used to work for Guinness. Guinness should be stored and served at 58 F. The cognoscenti shuddered at the concept of cool Guinness. Quite ruins it.
