A10 - frame serial number and engine number

As a newcomer to your community, I need advice before buying my A10 Road Racket. I am not able to check whether the engine number DA10 R9844 and the frame GA73819 could be mounted together on one Road Racket machine. It should correspond to a 1960s machine. I'm also bothered by some things - just one speedometer, the shape (proportion) of the tank and its two-tone spray instead of chroming its side, a short rear fender. You may see other problems. I am attaching photos, I will be pleased for any of your professional advice.

The frame looks like 1960, with correct hubs, oil tank and tool box, the petrol tank is earlier circla 1958, and should have chrome sides.
Speedo is incorrect, should be chronometric, think one fitted is off A65.
Engine number denotes Super Rocket or RGS, but primary cover is earlier.
Mudguards are incorrect

Your #'s look to be a 1960 frame with a 1962 motor and called a Super Rocket.
The speedo, headlight and brackets look to be off a later model A65.
The cotter pin in the kickstart lever is in backwards. The tank looks like an Indian job.
Rear fender looks OK.
All in all a very nice looking bike.

Hi ... I actually spent a lot of time on the internet looking for what a machine should look like. Identification is not helped by the original registration documents from Denmark - apart from the frame number, there is nothing.
Mudguard - they seem flat to me on the A10 (no side parts). But I found other machines with similar fenders on the Internet.
For Muskrat: Why do you think mudguards are OK? The rear mudguard has a low end auxiliary bracket at the end of the mudguard.
Guages - speedo is different, it is from the A65 and only one - probably missing a tachometer.
Headlight and bracket - I assume they will be possible to change for the correct ones for the A10.
For Billy - the engine is Super Rocket or RGS, it probably doesn't matter. But the engine does not belong to the frame.

You have to remember that these bikes are over 60 years old and very few will be original, in there early life owners made many changes to suit personel needs as parts were cheap and readly available. I even changed the colour on mine but now returned to it standard, but still made other improvements.
The bike you are looking at has some good features, it depends what you want, an orginal bike will be very expensive.

Looking at the pictures, my 1st impression, if the price is right it's a very fine starting point to quickly get a rideable machine (assuming the engine\gearbox is in shape).

Then over time get some parts now and then to build it up to full Rocket specs if so wishing. That will have a (substantial) cost, for example well working tacho + speedo going for a small fortune, so get the initial price down accordingly.

Looks great regardless of being non standard. My own A10 is bits from all sorts, Bought it cos I really liked the way it looked.

The frame has 4 cast engine mounting lugs on the front down tubes and rear set brackets on the pilion rest loops.

The 4 lugs did not come on the GA7 frames until well into the 20000s and 1962 so modified?

It's encouraging how you work here - thanks to everyone ... I didn't expect anyone to want to help identify my machine right away (maybe my future machine).

I don't necessarily need the specification of the machine in the form of Road Rocket - it is for sale in this specification. Now, thanks to you, I know that it is more of a Super Rocket, with a different Indian tank, a different headlight, holders, mudguards, without too expensive speedo. But Billy is very right - the changes on the motorcycle are logical - people just want the best for their machines.
If anything else comes to mind, I'll be happy for any comments.
Otherwise, I'm looking forward to other topics on this website, which I will study when I deal with all the diseases of my machine - there may not be many.

Hi, no - the frame number is 73819... I see it on the photograph from buyer.

Look harder, there is no such number, I think that what you see as "7" is actually "2".

The frame number prefix would be GA7, then usually a space with a dot stamped, then the production number.

The bike looks good to me  the non chromed tank is potentially very expensive to correct but at least there are indian made tanks available at reasonable cost.
