side stand for goldflash 1960
« on: 19.06. 2022 10:04 »
Im after a side stand for Gold flash twin 650  1960. i have bought one but these are rubbish they aren't long enough so the bike leans over to far, plus it hides under the pipes so cant get your foot on it to pull it out.

Does anyone know where i can get an original from?

Apart from ebay, no. As for not being able to reach it, I welded a lug (10mm stud about 2" long) to top of the pad so it could just be seen / reached under the exhaust.

The pattern stand on mine is tricky to get at. Am now using the top of my boot to find and dislodge the beggar. Just have to live with the oil on the top of my boot !

I couldn't find anything except the cheap "Jiffy" stands, so I made one, it works well and wasn't too hard, all brazed together. It took 3 attempts to get the length right, and adding a little bar  (~2 inches) to the foot (not shown) allows you to get it down with your toe.

I made the perch for mine out of a chunk of billet. I cut it out with 1mm cutting disks on the angle grinder. Such a delicate tool for sculpting metal. I only needed to make the perch but that is the trickiest bit really.
