A10 engine plates location
« on: 07.08. 2022 13:26 »
Hi Anyone got a good drawing of the GF engine plate fitting.
I’ve got a Haynes manual where I cannot find it I’ve also got an old Dragonfly parts book but I’m not seeing it clearly

Took gearbox and all plates out.
Did another dry run with plates only before final fit.

My engine mounting sequence (gearbox not fitted) Note. Only tighten the 2 dynamo and 2 lower motor plate bolts. Then slack fit remaining bolts until gearbox is in position.
1 Fit dynamo’s plates to front of motor unit.
2. Rest a 25mm piece of wood on the frame to protect frame.
3. Lift motor unit into frame then rock motor unit forward and fit dynamo plates to the frame then remove piece of wood.
4. Fit lower motor plates with 2 bolts only. (Both offset engine plates are fitted to LHS of the frame)
5. Fit LHS gearbox plate. Then the gearbox. Then the RHS gearbox plate which can be a bit fiddly to get in position.

Thanks slighthitchmitch but I spent a few hours on the internet and my manuals but couldn’t find a full description of where offset or flat plates went and what went to outside or inside.

Go to Priory Magnetos website and check "frame parts" subsection, for eng/g.box mounts.

For a thing that aught to be simple it took me hours to sort out how they fit together. Someone had made a rather crude set of aluminium ones that I replaced with a nice set of second hand ones. Not nearly as easy as I'd expected but I finally got it sorted with the aid of the previously posted diagram.

Yes it should be an easy job. But I’ve already got it wrong via the Haynes book. So could we not have a particular section showing only fitting details.

Even if only a link to a good site like the one above.
