Front wheel problem
« on: 03.10. 2009 20:47 »
Has anyone fitted the full width cast iron flanged type A65 wheel into an A10?

I fitted the TLS back plate into my 58 on cast iron full width hub some time ago, having had the slot welded deeper to engage the fork lug, and all was well. I have now got hold of a wheel with a flanged type full width cast iron hub A65 ? which I want to fit to be right with the TLS brake plate. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so which spindle would be correct?

I should say that I fitted a std A10 spindle into the A65 wheel, but the spindle seemed off center, even though the castings of both hubs measures the same, which is a puzzler ??

Any help would be good ??

Cheers
Regards

Andy

Hi Andy, I have an A65 TLS wheel on my 58. I left the 69 axle in it but you still need to overcome the fork lug/plate slot problem (as you did with your other wheel). The only other way I can think of would be to fit A65 forks-- then you will have the problem of fitting the guard unless you fit one from A65. I think the best solution is what you have already done, but there are probably more knowledgible guys here on this subject than me.
Cheers,    Bob.

Cheers Bob

I intend to fit the TLS brake plate [already modified] and the A65 flanged full width hub into the 58 on clamp up forks. Is that what you did ?

Does the 69 axle fit the clamp up forks ? same length etc?

Hi Andy

First I am not an expert, So if you have a A65 hub and spindle it will fit straight in with the lug mod which you have already done.

If you have a Triumph hub there are a few problems as spindle length is different, there was some posting about this subject 2/3 months ago on this subject I tried a quick search but did not find the one with the information.

Taking my hub in this week for a rebuild (the full works) my friend has done a great job on welding and polishng the brake plate.
