engine number

My 1960 GF has HC after the engine number but has iron head single carb. does HC mean high cam??
Anybody know???

Pete, HC = high compression

Thanks,I first thought that also, but read somewhere that High compression was exclusive to the alloy head.

I have a set of blown crankcases imported from USA, BA10 plunger type, which are stamped HC. As a matter of interest, the crank had a triplex sprocket on it as used on Super Flash. Trevor.
