Cable routing A10 taillight
« on: 06.04. 2025 07:19 »
Good morning,

can anyone tell me how the cable is routed to the taillight on an A 10, 1954?

It was connected to the outside of the struts and led from below into the taillight... is that correct? I can't find any holes in the rear fender to route the cable through.

No idea what's "correct" or not, but cables should be hidden out of sight, usually clipped under the mudguard.
Nothing worse than seeing a nice resto with the rear light cable taped to the stays etc.
{Apart from red and blue crimp connectors or choc-blocks on view, that is}

My '53 bike had little tags welded under the mudguard to hold the cable in place.

Hello Heiko. Do you have a ribbed mudguard? If yes, then the wiring harness will BE routed from next to the Regulator through the mudguard and underneath the rib, held by several brackets, to the hinge and from there to and through the hole at the taillight.
Best regards, Manfred

Thanks a lot Manfred,

yes I have a ribbed one but without a hinge at the rear. Little bit strange.

Have to check how I can fix the cable inside the mudguard.

P clips (bought or home made) do the job.

If you do not want to damage paintwork you could consider using builders adhesive to glue the cable under the mudguard - something like Gripfill.

The cable clips rust away in due course which is why you so often see the cable routed externally. Like on my bike.
