Warren Says Hi
« on: 15.07. 2025 15:35 »
Hi All,
Been a long time since having a pre-unit BSA twin, but it was inevitable - my membership was prompted by my most recent purchase, a '53 Super Flash! It was the restored bike on Bring-a-Trailer; I just couldn't resist, it was just too pretty! This is the 3rd SF owned, and the only one I've ever heard run - the other's were basket cases, and we parted ways for financial reasons. The first one saw a quite a bit of restoration, but had to go to finance a home purchase. The second came at a bad time (I was road racing at the time), and was converted to $$$ to fund a TZ750 build.

Now in my old age, I've hung up the leathers and am getting back into my first love - vintage British machinery. I've been recommissioning a low-mileage SQ4, and performing a major restoration on a 1955 Yamaha YA-1, but needed something to dress up the shop.

Glad to share SF (or any BSA) info and/or pictures. Thanks for the join!

Warren in Phoenix.

Thanks everyone for the warm greetings!
Back in the early '70's my first 'real' (haha) job was at a Berliner / Norton-Ducati-Guzzi-Bultaco-BSA-Ariel-anything British shop; never had so much fun for so little pay - started by assembling bikes until they trusted me with actual customer machinery.

I've always found the Plunger twins to be very 'friendly,' and easy to ride. Far as a bike to live with every day, the A-7 is my choice. Easier to start (more important for Senior riders), smoother, and plenty healthy to contend with traffic excluding the Interstates ... someday I hope to add a Star Twin to the stable, but they are rare in any condition.

So in the meantime, the Super Flash will just have to fill the bill (it has succeeded!). As part of the sale the seller posted a riding video. Yes, it runs that good!

Thanks again,
