When I used to dispatch in London back in the 80s I was told by the other riders, you ain't a proper dispatch rider til you've had a good off. So I promptly set off to find the first Ford Fiesta I could find reversing out of a side street onto a main rd, in this case Holborn rd. Perfect, so close there was no chance of stopping or swerving in time. Very broken bike, and numerous cuts n bruises from the landing some way down the road. Bastard had no insurance as he'd "borrowed" the car while visiting from Italy. GREAT! NO BIKE, NO MONEY, NO JOB. But at least I could hold my head up in the dispatch office, oh yeah, no job!
