For sale 8" TLS front brake NOW SOLD
« on: 20.10. 2025 14:29 »
SOLD   SOLD   SOLD.
As in the title and was advertised on evilBay but messed about by a gibbon who couldn't pay on time.
Not needed on my bike now as i've put on a standard A10 front brake, thanks Andrew at Priory Mags.
Good condition with odd little signs of wear and tear. Comes with both brake shoes. Part number looks like it came off a Triumph originally, was on my bike when i bought it. £120 ono plus P&P.
More pictures available on request just send me a PM with your email address.

Because the rest of the front end wasn't modified and I didn't want the expense, that's why.

Depends entirely how flush you are feeling and how much you want to spend. I recently bought this from Surrey Cycles. Very expensive @ £700 GBP, but in my opinion worth every last penny. It fits The 8" S/S Goldie, A65 ect front brake hub. No modification needed. Basically it's a copy of the the Eddie Dow unit. You would pay this much or probably more if you can find an original genuine Eddie Dow example in good condition because they are quite rare and highly sort after. Let me just add, that I am delighted with my purchase and it works just great. If you are reluctant to spend money on changing the front front as you say, then obviously this is not for you. Changing the front end will be a lot less expensive.

If you are actually going to ride the bike on the road the TLS front brake is if not essential at least highly desirable. My wife refused to ride her A10 until I replaced the original 8" unit with a TLS brake. Even my B31 now sports an 8" TLS front brake.

I find that the use of the front and rear brake combined is good enough braking, even two up.
Anyway, i thought this section of the forum is for selling not rabbiting on about how good the TLS is. *dunno*
Makes me wonder what people did in the past before the TLS was thought of and they were riding around with a sidecar fitted and full of kids and the wife on the pillion. *sleepy*

I'm not familiar with this brake fitment to earlier BSA's, but is it possible to utilize this (possibly with modifications) on the 1950s 8" half-width hub wheels?
If so, I'll buy it.

I Think it is designed for the  8" full width hub type wheel

Yeah, usually seen on the BSA/Triumph 7+ 8" FW hubs.
Just a thought though.
