real barn bike find
« on: 19.12. 2025 12:35 »
what have i done? i got this for free   [ thank goodness ] from a small holding because the 83 year old man was clearing out some stuff. engine turns but clutch is stuck , throttle cable seized and a million more things that need attention . why did you take it berger? because in the darkness of the barn i thought i might be able to do a days fettling and run it as a play thing wood bike. i might try and sell it and hope someone wants an engine ? in another building was a earls 70's tiger cross moped all original but he wouldn't even sell me that. i left it in the van overnight and the next day the van was FULL of mossies i'm still swatting them on the windscreen  *pull hair out*

That's a 2-stroke, isn't it. That actually could be fun. Are yu saying you sold it. I'm obviously not a potential buyer.

richard i thought it would be fun for me to thrash round the woods,  but this bike i took from a small holding because it was free off an old mate turned out sour after seeing it in daylight and finding it needed a weeks work or more and new parts maybe costing up to 300£s or maybe more , new cables , tyres battery etc etc.  so i decided to chance it for 60£s on ebay or it was getting scrapped. now it has gone crazy with two days of the auction left.

sold after hassle from loons who i couldn't understand more than two words in a sentence , at least 4 of them maybe all of the same clan . then a geeza phoned and said i can pick it up tonight i make these things back to show room condition i'v done loads, then he asked me how much i wanted for it when the bidding was 150£s so i said 300£s . he came and picked it up in the dark one hour later and showed me some photos of the small bikes he had done and yes they looked mint. two hours later he txt me and said it started 3rd kick and only the lord knows how he managed that! i am now a happy bunny and can get a biggg skip to save me keep taking stuff to the tip. the downside of the garages is all that good wood has ended up going down from 14ft lengths to 10ft lengths because the garage it was in wasn't opened for 30 years and the small roof leaks plus worm has killed a lot of it *pull hair out* *bash*..  luckily enough of the harder lengths only rotted away and resisted the worm so all is not lost *beer*
