Cylinder barrel and head paint finish

When my 1947 A7 was brand spanking new - sitting on the show room floor - what would have been the finish on the head and barrels? - Matt, Satin Gloss? Cheers

not a lot of options in those days I would think stove enamel in gloss .....however today we have many options and I find VHT high temp in spray cans about the best its available in wrinkle finish , gloss or matt

Exactly, not a lot of options back then. My local engine rebuild shop painted after boring so I would say he used VHT gloss. Science probably says matte finish will give up heat better.

from tests I have read in the past the matte wrinkle finish dissipated heat the fastest
