Different Cam Profiles

Hello together,
for my 1950 A10 i am looking for the best Camshaft in my Stock.
I have two 334 one 356 and one witch is marktet whit R8.It has a little bit other Cam Profile on the Inletcams.
Is it possible that it is a LS Cam?
I hope it is something to see on the Pics.

I will  build a 1950 A10 whit a small Journal and a small Fin Barrel. The Pistons are 7.25x1 - the Question is whitch should i use?
By the way my 1956 A10 PLUNGER has its TÜV on Friday...

From what I have read on here the 356 is the best compromise cam, no disadvantages compared to the 334, and more low end torque than the 357 (which gives more high rpm power but a lot less low end). There is a little used, specialised, 358 type as well.

I have a 356 cam in my A10 with flat top pistons, which works well at the rpm I use, I rarely exceed 5000 rpm.

The R8 is a mystery to me. If you can measure the base circle diameter and lobe that would give a “lift” and maybe help identify it.

Edit: it would be a good idea to check the cams against original dimensions, they may be worn or reground.

356 would be my choice also (depending on it's condition).
If you or a friend has a lathe and dial indicator measure the lobe height.

I have 357's in both mine. Not much under 4000 but 5-7000 hang on!

I think all 4 Camshafts are not so bad.I am only a little bit affraid that the Upgrade of the Ratio from 6.5 to 7.25 and the Change from 334 to 356 can make Problems whit the Barrelflange.

They all have a bit of a ridge on the top of the lobe but look good otherwise.
Don't be worried about the thin flange too much. I raced my A7SS with 2mm oversize pistons at 14:1, 357 cam and 7500 revs for a few years before they let go 
My 51 A7 with small fins nipped up once on a warm day on the freeway at 70mph. Let cool for half an hour and away we went again at 60mph for another 100 miles.

 Long stroke cam shares the same bearing bushes, but has narrower lobes and is a different length from the rest, so is easily to pick out.  A50/65 cam has hole down the middle and a scroll on the end, so also easy to identify. Neither fit short stroke crankcases.

the R8 looks way to steep vs the 356, I dont think I'd want to use that personally, what was it ever used on????

on a similar topic but not for the purists!.... taking on Musky's comment wrt wear, would a good used 357 be better than a worn 356, without looking into the intricacies of measurements I mean, rule of thumb, for a cooking/non racing Flash with 8:1 pistons (all that was available when it was rebuilt yrs ago) or stick to a cleaned up 356??

Both my A7 and A10 run 357 camshafts and do well on them. There is a bit extra from about 4000 - 4500 rpm otherwise no noticeable difference.

Like BS I have 357's in both mine. The A7 is a bit lacking down low but the A10 is fine. The extra punch up top is worth it.
I have a very good 357 here that I was going to put on marketplace. PM me if you need it.
