Bottom end conversion JB Conversions Cumbria
« on: 21.11. 2009 11:15 »
Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with JB Conversions of Cumbria? I am interested in buyiing an A10 and the bottom end has been converted to roller bearings. I know of SRM but not JB conversions?

Thanks

how meny miles has it done on the conversion it might be worth finding out srm say there conversion is good for 150 thousand plus
its a good conversion as it does away with the plain bush and has it got an oil end feed  in the end of the crank srm do the devimead conversion
which also involves altering the oil ways and also they use a  special duel bearing needle and ball ive had the srm conversion with no problems and my conrods
get extra oil

Hi Dave,

I have been told its done 50 miles - complete rebuild and that it has oil end feed to the crank.

Hi,

JB Restorations are known to me and have done work for me in the past. Their speciality are pre-unit gearboxes. I have found the chap who runs the company very helpful and his work is of a high standard. Can't recall what his name is. JB restorations were recommended to me by C & D Autos so I guess he has a good reputation. I do recall having a conversation with him about end feed conversions and from what I recall he has a contact in the Newcastle who carries out this work.

I am very interested in JB Conversions. I live in West Cumbria and thought that I was aware of everyone involved with old BSAs accross the county and yet I have never even heard of them! A Google search has not thrown anything up, so if anyone has any information as to which town they are in would be very helpful so I can pay them a visit (providing they are not on the other side of the Derwent as it's a bit tricky getting over there this week)!

I'm just wondering if anyone can feed back any experiences about JB Conversions? I am considering talking to them about my current bottom end woes. OR possibly just biting the bullet and getting SRM to do it. Does anyone have a ball park figure of how much I could be expecting to pay for such a job?

 Thats cheap.

Problem is here in the states, the one guy I knew of who did this messed up a few times (too many)- and wants $1100.00 dollars.

Shipping to U.K. is not cheap either.

We in the states need a place that does this well.
