Oil pump for a '52 A10
« on: 18.01. 2010 06:39 »
As per a previous post I am in need of an oil pump for my '52 A10.
I have found a site in the UK selling SRM pumps, are there any other new alternatives? is there a supplier in Aust'?
Not entirely trusting of mail order but if I have to...

G'day gold33,
SRM are I believe the only maker of new oil pumps, and going by what is said here they are very good. I think a little overpriced but thats my op. You can deal direct with them, my last order only took 9 days to get here.
What is wrong with your original ? They are serviceable as long as the body hasn't become porous. Both mine pump 50 Lb all day riding and 20 Lb at idle hot.
Cheers

Draganfly also sells reconditioned oil pumps (on an exchange basis), in case you don't want to do it yourself. But its really not that difficult to recon it on your own.

As Muskrat says, the original pump should be ok, that is if you have a pump.
Over the years they have been plentiful at swap meets and not very expensive generally.
If you get completely stuck, drop me an e-mail and we'll talk about one of my spares.

guys,

I think I mentioned this in the past, but I have not followed up on it. Morgo was in the process of making an A-10 pump. I have no idea, but maybe they are done with it now? Talking to the guy, it sounded like a very good design for an oil pump.

Thanks Guys,

I have the original pump. According to PO he reconditioned the pump before re-assembly, the pump is very very tight, so much so that the worm drive has been destroyed (big chucks of gear missing) the case seems to be the only good bit.
Are there kits available that include the drive gear (worm drive)?

g'day again Gold33, that happens when not assembled right. It sometimes takes a few go's to get it free, also if fitted without or wrong gasket (washer) under the driven end.
I have seen the worm drive on ebay and think SRM do one and I think someone on the forum said you can get new gears, but they are usually ok if not on a high iron diet.
If your not in too much hurry you can send it down to me for inspection and repair if possible. I'm near Ulladulla, my email is in my profile.
