Hi All,
I wonder if any of you were following the RGS Bottom end on Fleabay.AU ???
The seller said that he had the frame but at sometime it has had a rigid back end welded on (separate sale and offered first to the buyer of the engine bottom half)
It sold for AU$ 3969.99 (£2202) 

Looking at the engine and frame numbers quoted, I spotted a kind of sequence when compared to my own RGS
The engine numbers are exactly 200 apart and the frames 150 apart.
Is it therefore possible to predict other RGS numbers if you know one set to be correct????

got to beware a lot of fakes out there you can get cases without stamp on
i know someone who got a pair from states had them stamped as rocket gold star
once at the classic bike show in stafford there was a rocket gold star outside  and one inside on the gold star stand
with the same engine and frame numbers as the one outside beware all that shines isint gold it can be fools gold

Here is a link to it, there is no way that was a legitimate auction. E-bay should be ashamed of themselves for letting this sort of thing go on. That bloke would of had his mates or was bidding on it himself just to see how high someone would go.

I enquired about the frame, said he wanted $1,500 for it, I'm not sure if that
was bundled into the final price. Can't work out why he didn't have the frame
in the same auction, or sep. listed.

Rgs man,
Ah, yes, it means that a genuine one is worth a bucket load. I see they are selling for 15000 pounds plus in the uk. (not that I will ever sell mine).
I want to put it in the hall at home but funnily enough my wife isnt very keen at all!! Mentioned something about oil leaking all over the floorboards, and you think more of that bike than me!

 When Ive seen RGS frames or complete bikes on ebay in the US ( or anywhere abroad) and the owner quotes the frame number ,I wonder if a clone of that bike ,described as a genuine RGS is going to turn up over here(or anywhere for that matter). 2 identical bikes in diferent countries,who would ever know?

your right how can you tell a genuine one from a fake there so easy to copy
and a very good welder could make a super rocket frame into a rocket gold star frame
adding the lugs and parts needed and the engine cases can be easy to get in the states
with the right contacts with no numbers on all you need is a good set of punches

I'm not sure why those cases went for that price, they must have been a factory pairing
with the frame he had. With regards to the engine, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty
sure there are no real differences from the S/R engine of that year,

HI All,
Not different at all to the SR in the engine department
If the auction was genuine I would presume the buyer is after the RGS identity more than anything else
If he then buys the frame he has the basis for a genuine RGS!!

There was a pair of RGS cases sold on ebay some weeks ago and the seller had the proof that they belonged to a genuine bike thet went for £871 ebay no.   130350347023.
They are numbered DA10R 7433,
Around the same time a set of cases DA10R 7426 made £260,  ebay no.180439913671
Only being 7 numbers apart did the second buyer get something of a bargain???
Or maybe a couple of people had access to the factory records?????

I have a copy of the RGS and A10 Spitfire despatch records. I DO NOT give these numbers out. I will advise you if your numbers match if you contact me. BSAOC UK will do the same.
BTW, the RGS frame is unique and different from the SR frame in many ways. It would take a real effort to make them identical.
