Bike looks okay Mike! just get some T cut on the paintwork, some alloy cleaner on the  primary case and some auto sol on the chrome... You might just be lucky to bring the silencers up to a bit of a shine... and a bit of creosote on the shed while your at it...  *lol* *lol*

thanks for the horticultural and home maintenance tips lads *smiley4*

im having to resist the temptation to just put clean fuel and oil in and try firing it up, im desperate to ride it or even just feel and hear the engine run

the clutch is back out again, I have to send off for a triumph clutch puller as my bsa one wont fit the 4 spring clutch adapter, im getting nearer whipping the motor out

Mike,
I think that you will find that the Triumph puller has a different thread to the BSA 4 spring type.

Oh Oh - Trev, you might have a discussion on your hands, I always understood they were the same clutch.
I have bike one 1961 Flash with original (AFAIK) four spring, Bike Two 59 Flash with Triumph clutch (clutch I bought second hand)
Same puller works with both, but hey there's a lot of presumption on my part here regarding originality and scourcing

oh no

I assumed the 4 spring was a triumph/ bsa clutch, the different thread being between a 4 or 6 spring

I do know triumph used a 5 plate for a short time but I dont know if its the same thread

my mates got a draw full of clutch pullers , I could borrow his triumph pullers to see which one I need to source

Bill,
           Same but different.
The BSA clutch centre doesn't have cush rubbers and I may stand to be corrected on this, the BSA basket has a band around the outer perimeter and the Triumph doesn't.
Obviously the clutch sleeve is different also.
I am pretty sure that the internal puller thread on the BSA sleeve is different. I will have a look at both later.

Hi ALL,
The pre unit BSA / Triumph clutch puller will interchange and has 26tpi
Where confusion can creep in is that a unit Triumph center will fit a pre unit Triumph but not a pre unit BSA
I think the unit puller is 20tpi (not sure and not going out to check at this hour!!)

A BSA gearbox sprocket nut will screw onto the 6 spring centre and a universal legged puller can be used if you dont have the correct one  *ex*

Hi Trev , I have both a cush drive centre and a plain one ( cush centre has slightl play ), same puller works on both.
Probably a year difference thing.

Bill,
John is most likely correct about the pullers.
The Triumph one I have is for unit engines. I have just learnt a bit about Triumphs!

Trev what I'm learning re old bikes on this forum is that the one thing you can be sure about is that there is not much you can be sure about *smiley4*

ive done what I should have done sooner and had a closer look

the clutch is fitted via an adapter and when I tried the puller it didnt go on far before tightening up so I assumed it was a different pitched thread and if I pulled it I would strip the thread

on closer examination theres a shoulder in the adapter and the puller fits tight against that, so I can use the bsa puller after all

still an interesting debate on clutch centres though
