lucky find at boot fair

I need cash to do my bike, so ive started a fund. I went around the house and filled the van up with stuff i no longer need to take to a boot fair

my duchess decided to join in as she is visiting kenya later this year to teach the kids music and she takes them out toys, clothes and toiletries etc

anyway while on my way to get some teas I spotted a box with spanners in , closer inspection revealed they were whitworth by elora

for £3 I got

4 rings, 1/8 3/16,  3/16 1/4,  1/4 5/16,  5/16 3/8 . whitworth

2 open end    3/16 bsw 1/4 bsf   and  0  1   ba

im chuffed with my find. what sizes do you reccomend I need to find now

That was a good find, i saw some whitworth spanners at a steam fair on saturday, the bloke had them priced at 3-4 quid each for the smaller ones and 8-9 quid for larger ones!
Those bsw sizes will cover you for most of your a10 needs.

ive been looking on ebay and they are expensive. I asked how much and he said 50p each, I wasnt going to argue and took the lot

now that you have them , DON'T LEND THEM TO ANYONE ! that was drummed into me as an apprentice and i never have lent tools , you never get them back.

 Good find. Tools are like your bike & wife. If loaned out always come back stuffed.
 I had a similar find at Milton swap a few weeks back. A set of whit spanners 1/8 - 1/2 made from 1/8 flat bar and joined by a screw in the middle, similar to a set of ignition spanners. $10.

Hi All,
A similar storey, a couple of weeks ago I picked up 7 whit spanners for ?10 at a local steam rally
Better than that earlier this summer while at another field day a stallholder had an old box of Britool Whit sockets
I casually said to a friend who was with me "you could do with those" he asked how much ?15 !!!
didnt even argue!! I got a big fistful of taps and dies from the same guy for ?25

BTY search out Army surplus stores, they sometimes have heaps of very good quality tools really cheaply

i used to buy either britool or king dick tools and swore by them , great quality , the newer stuff made by them isn't a patch on the old stuff.

You can never have too many 3/16 1/4,  1/4 5/16,  5/16 3/8, you will need some AF's as well.

Those are great.
I have a set too. They take up very lttle room and make for part of good  travelling tool set.

thats what I wanted to know, ive got some af in my tool box, found an old cantilever toolbox in my lock up today so im going to empty it and make up an imperial toolkit

my haynes manual arrived today so Ive got some bedtime reading to do. also picked up a 6x10 shed free to collector. no room for a bench but at least I can keep it all together

everythings coming together nicely, just got to resist the itchy spanners till everythings organised
