Hello from South Yorkshire
« on: 22.07. 2010 21:33 »
Hi, I'm Anita and I've just bought my first British bike.  It had to be an A10 but its definitely in need of a little care and attention I hope to have it on the road by early summer next year.  Its a 1951 plunger.

My usual ride is a 2004 Classic Bullet which I've had for about a year, the plunger just seemed like a nice way to progress to a twin.  Bob keep's my Enfield running and is directing work on the A10 but there are bound to be one or two questions that crop up that neither of us know the answer to.  Oh, by the way, Bob's also recently got a 1954 plunger A10.  I'm bound to have one or two question so I hope you'll help if you can.

Good one, Bill.
We have to unchain them from the kitchen/laundry and drive them to the super market and wait in the car while they shop.
Mostly they cheat and put everything in a trolley.
The grog shop tries them out, though, with a carton under each arm.

First Lady on the forum but not the first Lady A10 owner by all means.

Christine Brady (Dave's wife -  ex BSAOC Chairman) and... 'oh gosh' what's her first name? Mrs Tyman (Teresa??), Pete's wife (BSAOC International secretary), both ride A10s and great distances too! So welcome aboard Anita and may you also have much pleasure in riding your A10 as well.

I also believe Norma Burgess-Lowe (South Derbyshire BSA branch) also rides an A10.

[Late edit: correction to show that Dave is NOT now a female! correction highlighted in red... sorry Dave if your reading!]

Anita,

Welcome. I think you will soon find that the idiosyncrasies of A10s, good and otherwise, have no gender preference or bias, and if anyone brings up leg strength, I'm sending Mia Hamm to their house to kick the tar out of them.
Please post some photos of the two A10s, because we thrive on those like bears to honey.

Yes, forgot to say, no problem with "seat height" its shorter than my Enfield and I like to meet other lady riders.  I met Norma at the BSA Owners Club South Derbyshire camp about a month ago. Bob's been a member  for a while and we decided to start going to camp weekends this summer.

From my point of view, they could be named "Envy" and "Jealousy". Great as-is of as projects.
