G'day all,
               It's been 12 years since I last came off (turn 9 Eastern Creek) and I'd forgotten how much it hurts. Yep dumped the cafe. Last left hander 100 yards from home. Down hill, off camber, 1st gear, too much front brake. Same as turn 9 ! Same tyres too, 12yo race rubber. Beer o clock.
 I was waiting to get new spoke nipples and then put new tyres on. Guess what's on next weeks shopping list.
Just a bit of gravel rash and bruised pride (the neighbours were watching). A flat spot on the megaphone and handlebar bung. I can heal, the bike costs money to fix.

Sorry to hear what happened, but glad you are (mostly) okay.

As far as I can remember, it takes about an hour or two until the gravel rash really starts burning like hell and the bruises really start hurting the next day.
Leathers are a good thing, but only if you keep all zippers closed, my left forearm still shows some signs of proof.

Aggravating incident, but remember, it could also have come much worse. Just imagine a car somewhere nearby or hitting one of those nasty guardrail posts.

That camber thing can certainly get you into trouble, even at low speads.
I've had some similar wobly moments.
They reckon most accidents happen 1km from home, I think its when we
drop our guard a bit....you probably had a few more swigs of that Muskat
that night I bet!

Ouch indeed! Thanks for the bravery of posting this, helps to keep us all alert to what can happen and yes it really does all seem to happen in that last Kilometre/mile. Glad your okay.

Its not often you hear the words "too much front brake" when talking about a BSA...

I should have said too much front brake and not enough grip. The new tyres did 2 laps of Eastern Creek in '98 when motor blew and bike was de-commissioned. Rebuilt and put back on road as cafe a few months ago, thought I'd leave the old rubber on till it was run in and sorted. So it's my fault. I should have replaced them a month ago when she clocked 120mph.

Hope all is well, especially after that pause when you asked for the holes to be sown up...

Must admit to being a little conservative when it come to tyres. My new (nipples still on most of the tyre) but very old tyres were replaced before I went further than a test run around the block.
I've never had a bike on a track but have done some laps on 4 wheels, funny things happen as confidence increases and tyres wear.
