New guy on the block
« on: 04.08. 2010 00:31 »
Hi everyone I've recently bought a 54 A7 Plunger (frame: BA7S 1165 and eng: AA7 2993 not matching I think). It appears to be fairly original but not sure about the two tone green colour combo. I've seen 54 A7 swingarm photos this colour but not plungers (dark green frame/light green tinware). My aim is to tidy her up and replace any non original parts but retain the patina of age. I've not ridden it yet (unregistered) but it starts easily and sounds good. It had a top end rebuild about 3500 miles ago. The previous owner said the timing is out and its low on power so thats the first job on the list followed by sourcing the parts I need (levers and switchgear-to replace rusty items, a headlight cowl, tank badges and a dummy battery case and new battery. Can't wait to register and ride her!
Cheers Pete

G'day Pete, I saw that bike and was nearly going to have a go at it myself. It looks like a nice bike. The colour was used on the Star Twins of the era.

Dont worry about the numbers, just get it up and going and ride it.

Getting more of us Aussies on the forum, we'll overtake the poms at this rate. I'm in Mt Gambier in S.Aust (crow eater)

G'day Brian
Yeah it's quite a nice old thing and in pretty good nick too - not too much required to take it back to factory spec. Whats the difference between a Star Twin and a Standard A7 plunger? I believe by my engine number that it's from a 51 model.

And a welcome to the forum, hoping you'll find all the help you may need. & agree with Muskrat, Don't worry about the #'s, get the bike on the road and enjoy it. "but retain the patina of age" > good (= like us owners?  *smile* )

Take a look at Where are you situated? Which bike ?

Thanks for the welcome guys. Already a member of the VVCMCC here in Canberra so it'll definately be going on club rego.
Just parted with my mint 68 Bonnie (sob) to finish off my E Type Jag resto, so the Beeza is my new 2 wheel classic.

No but I know the lads well. Bought my first Jag from Peter in 1983. He is a wealth of knowledge on all things British and I use that a lot!
