Factory despatch records
« on: 21.01. 2011 08:04 »
Hi. I was wondering if any of the forum users have copies of, or quick access to the factory despatch records?  I have been searching for a genuine A10 Road-Rocket project for a while now and usually they turn out to be a later Super-Rocket or a standard A7/A10 that has had a 'CA10RR' engine fitted. There is one on ebay uk at the moment but it has many non Rocket details including standard H/light nacelle, full width cast iron front hub and sliders and no tacho drive on the timing cover, guards, seats etc. These are all bolt on items and perhaps the change of front end was due to accident damage in a time when originality wasn't important.  I have used the BSAOC in the past  but it seems to take so long and currently the VMCC library is closed. So if anybody would be able to confirm that this frame did start its life as a genuine Road-Rocket and that the engine fitted is its original, I would be most grateful, and perhaps it would avoid a costly mistake.  I will send the frame/engines nos by PM  to anyone who can assist. Thanks in advance. Peter

Hi Pete... I think the Science museam in London also has the factory records. I recall that only three organisations have copies of the records, BSAOC has the originals, VMCC and the museam.

Hi LJ. Thanks for the reply. I'm fairly certain the the VMCC are the current custodians of the Ex-science museum archives, but I'm not sure if they were copied or just handed over. However, I have now managed to answer my question with a little bit of pleading to the VMCC. I must admit I have always found Annice and Michelle, in the library,  to be extremely helpful. Regards, Peter

Ahh that jogs a memory! I think you are probably right at that. Glad you've got sorted.

Cheers
