I bought one some years ago from Aldi, used it a couple of times, worked OK removed stuff that I did not know was there.
In my case the reverse has happened - was bought for the shed and now resides in one of her wardrobes for use (as you say) for cleaning jewellery, on the upside clean old jewellery is cheaper than new jewellery
