Thanks
« on: 01.04. 2011 10:34 »
Many thanks to all on the forum that made the build up quicker, easier, and helped me save costly mistakes by answering my many questions over the last 18 months. It is always the first place i turn to if im stuck, and is a vast pool of knowledge readily and quickly given.
I started off with just a frame and have gathered all the other stuff together, which when i look at the parts book i cant quite believe where its all come from.
The bikes not really any particular model ,so rivet counters (have we got any?) rest easy, spose it looks closest to a Spitfire,i always like my bikes to look sort of stripped down, minimal . Its been built to ride every day so is tidy not immac.
Fired 1st kick, ran well 2nd, which i was chuffed with as none of the engine components had even met before i began building.
LJ crank,TF barrels, flat top hepolites, modded A7 head, SRM pump+prv , 356 cam, 376 carb so all pretty mild mannered.
Again thanks chaps , ill probably need to ask more sooner or later!

Cheers spyke

Hi Spyke

Great job - she looks great. I bet she sounds great too with the twin goldies. I put some on mine soon after I bought her - it was the first thing we did to any bike back in the sixties (unless it was a two stroke of course)  *smile*

No  Nick its a fleetmaster tank(i think) that i picked up at beaulieu auto jumble for £50 ,which i soldered a couple of threads on to take the tank badges and was already chromed, i still have the proper spitfire tank and  one day may pay my chromers the £450 they wanted to chrome it! but couldnt afford it at the time.
