BSA dating service

Hi guys
Anybody know of a site where I can reliably date an old BSA 500 I purchased many moons back. I think its a mid 1920's side valve with manual oil feed to the engine. The numbers on the crank case are:
M 20268 28W
Thanks
Anji

The dating info I have indicates it is probably a 1928 model, 500cc SV. Does the frame number start with GM ? The frame number should be stamped on the casting the seat pole pushes into, most likely on the left side.
