Hi again everyone can anyone help me out in sourcing an A7/A10 swinging arm frame for my 61 A10 cafe racer cum RGS after 2 years work (see pics) I was unable to align wheels correctly I found the swinging arm was bent I had that staightened but there is more damage in the frame which I decided to replace as I will never trust it to ride safely and I wish to replace it

Chris,

It's a shame to hear of your frame troubles. As you know from all of our oohing and ahhing, we all think you have a great looking bike. I am rather certain that the cost of the frame and shipping costs will be prohibitive but, just for the record, "British Only", here in the States, appear to have a variety of possible frames for your bike. Here is the link to the page I looked at:

http://www.britishonly.com/estore/categories/frames/bsaA10.asp

If you do end up trying to deal with these folks, keep in mind that they can be hard to communicate with, as they are moving toward going out of business. On the other hand, that could play into your favor if you get into negotiations. I don't know if they will guarantee the product, however, I have a feeling that the provenance of what You get could be verified as legitimate.

I suppose you will probabaly keep an eye out on that side of the Atlantic, waiting until the right deal comes along. That's what I would probably do, being cheap.

Richard

Hi Chris, it might be worth asking around some of the modern bike shops in your area. It is possible to get frames straightened and they use laser technology and usually end up straighter than when they were new. If you buy another frame there is no guarantee that it will be straight either. Its worth asking around.       Brian.

Hello again everyone the new frame is now fitted and the bike is running again I have put another 30 miles on the clock and all seems well apart from the primary cases leaking oil and the lower oil pipe has a weep at the tank end. Riding the bike is now much improved but I am not too happy with the forks they are clunky and seem to both bottom and top out. Installed are new hard chrome stanchions, bushes, seals and holders, gold star double dampers and no oil leaks the springs I have not replaced as I was advised it was not necessary. I really hope that is not the problem, if it is, does it require a complete fork strip to replace them? I think I am going to find it hard work running this in with my riding position (clip ons for those who have not looked at the pics) and my screaming back! but as they say no pain no gain any advice on the forks welcomed and I will update as I progress. Bye for now Chris
