How do you mean, and for what purpose?  do you need to know the part number of the correct speedo?

If you let us know the numbers shown on the speedo face somebody might be able to match it up with their own bike.  Many members of this forum have more than one bike and often different makes!!  Beezageezauk.

Hi all, This topic is of interest to me as I am not sure if I have the correct speedo for my bike. It is a 1957 Golden Flash.The identification info on the dial shows a 4 figure number which is 1450 and an alpha numeric set which shows S 608/11/N. I have emailed a couple of speedo repair companies in UK but no one seems to respond. I am querying mine because of the different mileages being added to the trip and odometer on each ride out. I believe that being added to the trip is about right. That added to the odometer goes up by about twice as much!

The Smiths speedo listed for the 1957 GF has the numbers you posted except for the last alpha character which should be "L" rather than "N".
Re the distance difference: do the speed readings correspond correctly with the distance readings? If you drive the instrument with a lathe or drill press at, say, 30 mph for 60 seconds, the odometers should register one-half mile. If you're not sure of the origin of the instrument, it might be that someone tried to set the odo back which would have damaged it.
The Smiths chrono is a mess of small springs, wheels and ratchets, and its calibration is best left to the experts.

Hi dp. Thanks for that. I wonder what mine came off?. I will get it looked at professionally when I strip the bike for a paint job over the winter months.

Quite a few BSA's were fitted with your model speedo. They include
     1955-57 B31 SAF (swing arm frame)
     1954-55 B32 comp SAF
     1954-57 M33 SAF
     1954-55 B34 SAF
     1955     M20 rigid and plunger
     1954-57 A7 ST
     !958      A7 SS
     1954-57 GF solo (plunger)
