BSA A7 - trade for WM20
« on: 21.10. 2008 13:00 »
Hi All,
I have a lovely original BSA A7 plunger with twin saddle in remarkable condition. Silver tank.
Just had dynamo rebuilt  and will fit tomorrow hopefully. It's been in my shed for 3 years.
I'd sell for cash but would much rather trade for a WM20, cash either way.
Bike stored in Norfolk (IP26).  I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.
Thanks
Don

Hi Doug,
No problem with cash!  Bike is in Norfolk, where are you  located?
I have now found the camera and have even taken photos but now can't find the USB lead.
I'll  look again tomorrow.
Cheers
Don

Don... Without me sounding too critical towards your pictures. You'd be far better off finishing the bike and standing it outside against a pleasing background, I'm sure that you'll then tempt any M20 owner into considering swopping/exchanging machines with you. The prices of the two bikes I would say are roughly very similar. An M20 single side valve bike (I have an M21) is a very fun machine to own, not fast but probably easier to work on and has a pleasing throbby sound to it when riding. On the other hand as I have recently found with my purchase, the early A7 is such a beautiful smooth running bike which I think will be high on my faviouriots list in my stable of BSAs. Two completely different bikes but of such similar values.

Perhaps you could tell us a little  more about yours? It's year, number of previous owners etc? and roughly the year of M20 your looking for, rigid, plunger, girder/teles etc. There is getting to be a wide membership here on this forum now so your chances of finding a possible good deal is high.

If you should find such a satisfying outcome then maybe a small contribution to the owner/administer of this fine forum would be appreciated.  ;)

Good Luck in your search!

Don
you kept us waiting for the pictures, I gave up! I am interested in the bike to put  it back on the road and ride it.
If you could email me with some more details like history etc.. and how much you want. I have always wanted an A7 or A10.
thanks

Hi Doug,
It has 52,615 miles. I bought it off  Haywards of Cambridge about 3 years ago (http://www.haywards.co.uk/) after trading back a new Royal Enfield (India) 350 Bullet.
I'm looking for around £2,200 running - as is.    I really wanted a WM20 but ....
Regards

Need to check the engine no. but the tank badge is a Star Twin. Would be a nice bike with a bit of a clean up. Pity its not in Australia.

Hi Don
Nice bike I wish it was over here in Canada.  I think you should finish it up and ride it.  I have a 49 and I love it.  Jeff
