Not getting all unread..
« on: 06.04. 2013 14:10 »
I used to click the "Show unread posts since last visit" and it worked fine. Recently I've been getting "No unread topics found since your last visit. Click here to try all unread topics." - I can see the big list but not the short list I used to see. Any suggestions (Firefox 19.02, Windows XP SP3).

Oh, just discovered if I click the "here" bit in the above it does seem to work....

Sorry if this is a bit incoherent.

Hello, that's usually and maybe to be traced to cookie\ browser combination. Try clearing all cookies and browser cache, and set your browser's stored link to http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php

Also, be sure to click 'Logout' everytime when leaving. Quote form the SMF help:
If you simply close the browser, SMF might not update the database with some information it's holding during a session.

edit: did some tests, works fine here.

Ah that's what happened to me a couple of days back, seems fine now.
However cookies could be the reason as I use CCleaner and it clears out all cookies other than those selected to keep and the change to the new site probably meant a change of cookie, I need to run Ccleaner and chech the cookies kept

's funny, seems to work now.....

But I think it may be cookie related as suggested.

Many thanks for responses.

Same sort of stuff going on here (Chrome). It's been okay until the last couple of days. It shows unread posts, but having read one of the unread posts and then return to the list of unread posts they've disappeared. I've just cleared the cache / history and will let you know how I get on, but for a couple of us using different browsers and getting the same problem may something have changed recently?

All points to the cookies (and see http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?topic=6946.0 for latest forum changes).
As mentioned above, as a first move update the browser's stored link to http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php and be sure to clean out any old stored cookies. No problems here (firefox & ie9).

I highly recommend to use ccleaner regularly, takes care of many a browser related problem by removing outdated stuff.

Let's see how it goes (& there may still be some 'things' that can happen after the domain\server change, many gremlins have been eradicated, but more may lurk under the surface).

Yup, we appear to be firing on both pots.

In future I will try clearing cookies etc before bothering you and if that don't work I'll switch it off and restart, that normally fixes everything.

Thanks

Thanks for good news. Most, if not all, of these issues can be traced back to the hosting + domain move (impacts login info, cookies, domain name servers and God knows what), am hoping it will all stabilize completely over time. Seems to go in the right direction.
